It's easy to get overwhelmed with the weight of responsibilities & concerns as a mum.
When ultimately, our greatest desires are that our kids are happy, healthy and seeking after God with all their hearts.
At every stage, we question our skills, abilities and knowledge which is usually tied up in our identity.
Can I do this? What if I get it wrong? Am I enough?
It seems to be especially so with those of us who have a strong desire to be the best mother we can.
We want our children to not only survive, but to thrive ... but how, when there are so many factors of influence outside of our control?
In our endeavour to get things RIGHT, we often make it more complicate than it needs to be!
Jesus made it pretty SIMPLE in Mathew 6:33,
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
Our identity is not tied to our parenting style, our children's success
or even to our role as a "mother".
Our identity is in Christ!
When we fully grasp that, it changes EVERYTHING!
That's all well and good ...
But How??
In my role as a teacher, a mother of 5, and now as a mother-in-law and grandmother, I've tried, struggled, wrestled, witnessed & grown
It's worth it!
And .... I'm looking forward to the rest of the journey!
As a teacher, I saw an incredible difference in the students whose parents were invested in them.
As a parent, I discovered that changes in my children's behaviour were a reflection of where I was at personally & spiritually (... as much as I din't like to admit it).
After years of involvement in ministry & life, I've realised that mother's hold an incredible power of influence.
